Tsinghua University has released its 2027 international graduate admissions guide. If you’re preparing to apply for a master’s or doctoral program as an international student, here’s everything you need to know in one article.
📌 1️⃣ Application Timeline
Applications run from mid‑September 2026 to February 2027. ⚠️ But this is not a unified university‑wide deadline.
Different departments, majors, and programs have different application rounds and deadlines. You need to check the “Admissions Instructions” for the specific department in the 2027 Admissions Program Catalogue. Departmental catalogues are still being released gradually.
We recommend completing your application at least 2–3 weeks before your program’s deadline.
📌 2️⃣ Who Can Apply
Foreign nationals. Master’s applicants should hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese bachelor’s degree; doctoral applicants should hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese master’s degree.
About 40 departments accept bachelor’s degree holders for direct PhD entry, but you need to check the special guidelines, doctoral program catalogue, and departmental requirements separately — not all bachelor’s graduates are eligible.
📌 3️⃣ What to Prepare
University‑level materials include a personal statement, degree certificate and verification, transcripts, language scores, two recommendation letters, passport and nationality identity documents, etc. Doctoral applicants also need to upload a brief research experience or research plan.
Language requirements, work experience, and additional materials depend on the specific program. Nationality identity documents must be submitted on time — no supplementary submissions are accepted after the deadline.
📌 4️⃣ How Assessment Works
Tsinghua’s international graduate admissions use an application‑assessment system, consisting of material review and comprehensive assessment. The comprehensive assessment is generally interview‑based, with content, format, and timing determined by the department.
We help verify eligibility and program requirements, and provide full‑process application support including materials, essay guidance and revision, application system filling, interview preparation, and email communication with admissions offices.
